Hannah Ann Sluss, the winner of The Bachelor season 24, has revealed that there is a new man in her life. But what is there to know about the up-and-coming NFL star, Jake Funk? Hannah Ann teased the relationship with Jake on TikTok and Instagram, before confirming his identity in a post congratulating him after the Los Angeles Rams won the NFC championship game.
Although Jake isn't the first NFL player that Hannah Ann has been linked with since her time on The Bachelor, it seems as though her relationship with the young football player is something special. While it's unclear how long they've been together or how they met, based on Hannah Ann's and Jake's social media, she has already met some of Jake's family members, including his younger brother, Jordan.
Jake was born on January 11, 1998, making him 24-years-old. The eldest son of Jim and Alisa Funk, Jake comes from a family of athletes. His father played football at Penn State, while his mother was an award winning swimmer at Clarion University. Jake's grandfather was a member of Penn State's basketball team before coaching basketball at Scott High School and West Chester University. He was inducted into the Coatesville Area High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. His grandmother was the first female athlete to represent Penn State in an intercollegiate athletic event, competing with the men's rifle team. She was awarded The Pioneer in Women's Athletics Award in 2004. Jake's brother committed to play football at West Point, but transferred to James Madison University after his first year.
Hailing from Gaithersburg, Maryland, Jake attended nearby Damascus High School, where he was a standout football player. Over the course of his high school career, Jake received a number of honors including Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year. He helped lead the team to a state championship title in 2015 with a record seven rushing touchdowns. Despite his achievements, Jake received low recruitment ratings, but that didn't stop him. Jake received thirteen scholarship offers, including offers from three of the five service academies as well as Harvard and Yale. Upon receiving an offer from Maryland, Jake quickly committed to the university in October of 2015.
As a freshman, Jake debuted against Howard University and rushed for his first career touchdown. Later that same season, he caught his first receiving touchdown against Purdue. Jake continued to find success on the field during his sophomore season, ranking second on the team for rushing touchdowns. His junior year was unfortunately dogged with injuries, as he played through a wrist injury before tearing his ACL. After receiving an extra year of eligibility, Jake played in three games as a redshirt junior before tearing his ACL again. He recovered with the help of his half brother and had his best season as a redshirt senior.
Despite having college eligibility remaining, Jake declared for the 2021 NFL Draft in December of 2020. Following speculation that he would go undrafted, the Rams drafted Jake in the seventh round. The 233rd pick, Jake signed a four year rookie contract in May of 2021, expecting that he would be a special teams player. During a game against the New York Giants in the middle of the season, Jake suffered a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve. He was activated two months later and eventually helped the Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
Jake and Hannah Ann's relationship has only been public for about a week, but she clearly did a good job picking her current boyfriend. Not only did Hannah Ann choose to date a guy who ended up being on a team that won the Super Bowl — which she attended at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles — he's still far enough down on the depth chart that she didn't have to worry about him getting injured.
