Despite the ending of Fantastic Beasts 2, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore proved one theory about Jacob and Queenie’s marriage correct.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore seemingly confirmed the theory that Jacob Kowalski, a No-Maj, and Queenie Goldstein, a witch, would eventually get married. After falling in love during Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Jacob and Queenie struggled to be together in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Queenie wanted to get married, but Jacob refused, not wanting her to get in trouble for illegally marrying a No-Maj. Heartbroken, Queenie joined Gellert Grindelwald, who promised to allow witches and wizards to love whomever they wanted once he made wizards dominant in the world. This meant that Fantastic Beasts 2 ended with Jacob and Queenie separated, especially since Queenie was working for an extremist Dark Wizard.

Despite these circumstances, viewers theorized that Jacob and Queenie would still get married someday, citing an article (via Pottermore) as evidence. According to the fictional Daily Prophet article, written by Ginny Potter in 2014, an American Quidditch player, Quentin Kowalski, had been investigated for the “suspicious collapse of Jamaican Keeper Kquewanda Bailey” during the game. However, investigators later discovered that Bailey had been infected by a Sasabonsam bite. Quentin Kowalski seems to be a direct descendant of Jacob and Queenie, bearing Jacob’s last name and the masculine version of Queenie’s first name. Based on the characters’ ages, Quentin could easily be Jacob and Queenie’s grandson, suggesting that the couple would eventually marry and start a family together.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore seemed to prove this theory correct. At the end of Fantastic Beasts 3, the main characters gathered in Jacob’s bakery for his and Queenie’s wedding. Queenie wore a white bridal dress while Newt Scamander nervously prepared to give his Best Man speech. Although Fantastic Beasts 3 did not show Jacob and Queenie saying their vows – or who was officiating the wedding – it seems safe to assume that the couple finally got married regardless of American wizarding laws. However, this does not mean that life was easy for the newlyweds after their marriage. Although both Jacob and Queenie and Newt and Tina Goldstein seem to have happy futures ahead, it is still uncertain how they will reach them.

By marrying each other in the United States, Jacob and Queenie deliberately broke Rappaport’s Law. Enacted in 1790, Rappaport’s Law forbid marriages or even friendships between wizards and No-Majs. It aimed to segregate magical and non-magical communities, helping protect the International Statute of Secrecy. This explains why Jacob and Queenie got married in Jacob’s bakery with only a small group of trusted friends. Until Rappaport’s Law was repealed in 1965, Jacob and Queenie had to live in secret or move to Europe, where laws about relationships between wizards and muggles were less strict.

Similarly, Newt and Tina still have a long journey ahead before getting married. According to the “About the Author” section of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them guidebook, written by Newt, he will someday marry Tina. However, Newt and Tina have never become an official couple in the Fantastic Beasts film series. In fact, Tina was barely in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore with her only major scene occurring when she arrived for Jacob and Queenie’s wedding. During this scene, Newt and Tina both showed that they liked each other but were still nervous about directly expressing their feelings. Although Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore confirmed Jacob and Queenie’s marriage, the couple, along with Newt and Tina, may still face many difficulties before reaching their happy ending.
