Before attempting the Power Plant Puzzle in Rust, fans need to have healing supplies and a Hazmat Suit to combat the zone's high radiation.

The Power Plant is a Monument in Rust featuring a complex layout with multiple spots for finding high-tier loot. This Monument is considered to be "medium-tier," meaning that a Hazmat Suit is required to explore the heavily radiated areas. Accordingly, the players who visit this zone will likely be well-geared. As a result, survivors are recommended to have decent offensive and defensive equipment in Rust before attempting to complete the Power Plant.

To enter the central building and acquire the best loot in the Power Plant, Rust players will need to procure a Blue Keycard, a Green Keycard, and a single Electric Fuse. Blue Keycards can be purchased from the outpost or found within most tier-1 Monuments on the map. Green Keycards generally drop from Military Tunnel or Roaming Scientists but can also spawn as random loot within Oxum's Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, or Junkyard. Finally, Electric Fuses are randomly found within crates and barrels throughout the open world.

Keep in mind that the Power Plant has notably more radiation than other places in Rust, making it possible for players to still get poisoned even while wearing a Hazmat Suit. Hence, fans are highly advised to bring medical supplies in Rust with them before entering the zone.

How To Complete The Power Plant Puzzle In Rust

To start the Power Plant's puzzle in Rust, head to the three-story building on the opposite end of the crumbled cooling tower. Ascend to the structure's balcony on the side and activate the switch on a generator beneath the second staircase. Next, leap over the railing and go diagonally across the Monument to a slanted-roof shed on the northwestern side of the zone. Inside, players will find the second switch and the timer to unlock the Green Keycard door in the main puzzle building. Begin the timer, rush towards the green door outside the structure's first floor, and use the keycard to enter.

After players gain access to the central puzzle building, they need to go around the machinery to the back to activate a final switch. Next, head up the staircases to the third floor and place the Electric Fuse item in Rust in the storage area in the right corner. Return to the blue door near the stairwell and unlock it using the Blue Keycard. Enter inside to acquire high-tier loot and a Red Keycard, which can be found on a desk in the loot chamber's upper level. It should be noted that this area can be accessed by using the entrance on the rooftop, but this method will require players to have a helicopter to fly around the compound.
