Encanto only shows a few of the Madrigal’s rooms, leading to plenty of theories about the ones not seen. Here’s what the other rooms might look like.

Every Madrigal family member received their own room on the night they got their powers, but Encanto never showed many of them; here's what they might look like. As Mirabel searched for a way to save their home and its magic, she visited the rooms belonging to Bruno, Isabela, and Antonio, but that still left many of them unexplored. This mystery has inspired countless theories as to how the other rooms might be decorated and what they might contain.

The Madrigal family's powers in Encanto uniquely relate to their personalities, which, in turn, affects the designs of their rooms. Isabela, with the ability to conjure plants as perfect as she tries to be, has a room covered entirely in beautiful flowers. Antonio, who can speak to animals, has a rainforest in his room that is filled with all sorts of creatures. Bruno, on the other hand, has a room as mysterious as his gift of seeing the future.

These rooms are presented to the Madrigals during their candle ceremonies as a kind of visual representation of their new power in Encanto. As they step over the thresholds inside their rooms for the first time, the rather normal-looking entryways expand into vast open spaces allowing each family member to learn, practice, and grow their gift. What the remaining Madrigals' rooms in Casita look like has been a great source of speculation among viewers. Here are some of the likeliest possibilities and theories.

Abuela Alma

Encanto does show a few glimpses inside Abuela Alma's room, revealing a space as practical and no-nonsense as herself. When she steps out into the main hall in one scene, the audience can see a dresser behind her, upon which sits a lamp and a framed photo. Its simplicity is in many ways reminiscent of the nursery, where the only other Madrigal without a gift reside, but it also acts as a constant reminder of what Alma has lost. The coloring of the checkered floor and the curved design of the window share a resemblance with the home she once lived in with her late husband, Pedro. These traces of her past not only remind her of her pain, but also of the responsibility she feels to keep her family together no matter what. That burden has influenced all of her decisions ever since Pedro's sacrifice, and the house's many reminders of him undoubtedly deepen that sense of responsibility.

Pepa

A brief look inside part of Pepa's room in Encanto shows weather-themed décor in calming colors, which suitably reflects her gift to control the weather. Tiny water droplets decorate the walls, and an anemometer, used to measure wind speed and direction, sits on a side table. This glimpse into her room gives no indication as to what the rest of it expanded into, but the space would need to be able to handle any of Pepa's unpredictable weather powers. Ideally, if she was experiencing great emotional distress, or even if she just wanted someplace to practice her gift, she would need a large open area with a high ceiling that would not be damaged by extreme weather conditions. Pepa's room can also serve as a safe haven against external stressors, calming her down whenever she gets too upset. Soothing elements like bright, fluffy clouds along the walls and floor would be perfect for these purposes.

Dolores

Encanto makes it very clear that Dolores' super hearing never stops, not even when she is in her room trying to sleep. She tells Mirabel that she can hear Luisa's eye twitching all night, and she also hears the rats scuttling through the walls. Although some viewers have theorized that Dolores' room is soundproof to give her a reprieve from her gift, and the constant noise Dolores is exposed to, it's more likely that the space is designed to amplify certain sounds. Concept art for Encanto showed Dolores holding musical instruments, suggesting that her room might have been set up like a concert hall. This design would enable her to focus her hearing on the music before her, and block out some or all of the outside world in the process.

Camilo

Camilo's shapeshifting ability gives him a playful, theatrical personality as he constantly tried to match his persona to his current appearance. His room in Encanto could most easily reflect and amplify this gift using numerous mirrors and other reflective surfaces for Camilo to practice his transformations. To really lean into the theatrics of his power, Camilo's room could even be styled like an auditorium so that family members and friends can come to watch him perform. A less likely, but still interesting, theory for Camilo's room is that it's an environment that changes as he does. Depending on his mood, or perhaps depending on who he shapeshifts into, the room can change and rearrange itself to match.

Julieta

Julieta's number one priority has always been her family, and her room would likely reflect that by being a warm and welcoming space for loved ones. More than anything, however, Julieta's room in Encanto should provide ample space for her to practice her magical cooking and baking. There could be a garden filled with herbs and fruits and vegetables for her to work with, and specific areas dedicated to experimentation with new recipes. Concept art for the film revealed that Dolores was originally meant to be the Madrigal who healed with cooking, and her room's early designs had contained simmering vials that looked more like a chemist's lab than a kitchen. Perhaps Julieta enjoyed inventing new recipes in her free time as a way to relax. She might even test different food combinations to see if some are more effective at healing than others.

Luisa

Encanto concept art also shared an early idea for Luisa's room, which had been made entirely out of stone to reflect her strength. This idea for her room purposefully appeared rather boring to the casual observer, but Luisa's room in Encanto contained a second, secret room with games and other exciting attractions. This space that only Luisa knew about would allow her to actually unwind and have fun. The rest of her room, however, would need to reflect her dedication to working out, which the image on her door emphasized. At the beginning of the movie, Luisa ran on a makeshift treadmill the house had created while holding weights in each hand. A similar system could exist with various exercise equipment inside her room, which would also need to be incredibly sturdy in order to handle her power so that a young Luisa did not accidentally break something.

Mirabel

A big source of conflict for Mirabel throughout the movie is that she was never given a room of her own and has to remain in the nursery instead. However, the ending of Encanto shows a reconstructed house that is similar in many ways to the original Casita, but not quite the same. It's unknown whether or not this new and improved home finally gives Mirabel a room, but one popular theory as to why she never had her own space is that she is meant to take Abuela Alma's room once it becomes vacant. In many ways, Mirabel has become Alma's successor. Her grandmother's mission to bring the family together is also Mirabel's true gift. Whether or not this resolution was the creators' intent, Mirabel's room deserves to be as vibrant as its occupant, with images of her family surrounded by bright, happy colors.
