The Best Crucible Knight Build in Elden Ring
Matthew Barrera With the correct armor set, weapon, and incantations players can become Elden Ring's Crucible Knights and terrorize enemies with overwhelming might.
Elden Ring is host to tons of enemies with many different styles from combat to armor. Players have found ways to customize their characters and become the very enemies that plague the world. Some of these enemies have abilities that are mimicked by some arts of war that give players the chance to do them too sometimes to a greater extent. The abilities even pass down through items, which is seen by the Reduvia Dagger.
However one enemy in Elden Ring sets itself apart by having some great defensive and offensive weapons, this enemy also gives incantations that work well with said weapons. On top of that, the same incantations can be powered up by wearing the armor these enemies brandish with subtle differences. A favorite for its incredible might and dazzling attacks, Crucible Knights are the enemies that have created a build that all manages to work together.
Elden Ring's Crucible Knights have been known to be in the game since before its release. As powerful as they are, it is possible to become them by retrieving the different items, skills, and armor that they usually have which quite literally lets Tarnished become a Crucible Knight at full build. In order to get to this level though players must find either of the two crucible armor sets, achieve Ordovis' greatsword, and have all three of the current Aspect of the Crucible incantations.
How to Find The Incantations in Elden Ring
Aspects of the crucibles in Elden Ring are only obtainable by finding and defeating three main Crucible Knights that drop one incantation each. Finding two are straightforward as simply coming across them during a journey. However the third could be a bit tricky.
- The Aspect of the Crucible: Tail - Go to the Limgrave region and find the strange Stormhill Evergaol alter that leads to a rift in space and a boss battle with a Crucible Knight. Vanquishing it earns a victorious Tarnished Aspect of the Crucible: Tail.
- The Aspect of the Crucible: Horn - This knight can be found taking the left path on the cliff's edge just past three blade-wielding birds. Walk off the ledge and slowly decent until hitting breakable land and landing in bushes. A little further ahead the knight will appear. After defeating this knight players acquire Elden Ring's aspect of the crucible: horn.
- The Aspect of the Crucible: Breath - Is found after defeating the lord of blasphemy in Elden Ring. Slay Tanith and her guardian knight shall appear. Players gain the Aspect of the crucible: breath incantation after finishing off this knight.
How to Aquire The Sword and Shield in Elden Ring
Crucible Knights are not limited to the three stated above, there are quite a few lesser Crucible Knights that are worth defeating as well. These Elden Ring knights are still Crucible Knights but on a lesser scale with less health and a bit less strength.
- Ordovis' Greatsword: Starting with the sword which has a more specific way to acquire, this can be obtained by defeating the specific Crucible Knight Ordovis. This knight can be located as the Elden Ring's boss of Auriza Hero's Grave where it pits Tarnished against two knights at once. This could be a tough battle if ill-prepared but it is well worth it to obtain the greatsword. Ordovis' greatsword has oppressive damage and gives an art of war called Ordovis' vortex.
- Crucible Hornshield: The shield can be found as loot picked up from the lesser Crucible Knight that can be found patrolling at the Siofra Aqueduct. Upon reaching the Aqueduct this knight is ready for battle and will attack on sight. Still defeating it drops the Crucible Hornshield. This shield comes with the Art of War Shield Bash which is similar to the shield charge seen by other knights. This is a possible drop from all lesser Crucible Knights
How to Get the Crucible Knight Armor
There are two known Crucible Knight armor sets that can be found in Elden Ring. There is an interesting aspect to what the armor sets can do aside from how they look when being worn and the defense that they give.
- Crucible Knight Axe Armor: Achieving the Crucible Knight Axe Armor set is easy because it is given upon defeating Ordovis. This set includes the helm, gauntlets, armor, and greaves. The armor set is somewhat heavy and caters to strong builds with high dexterity and decent defense. However, this armor set also grants some good magic resistance in all elements with the highest of course being physical. Lastly this armor buffs robustness substantially with an added stat of 170.
- Crucible Knight Tree Armor: The Crucible Knight Tree Armor can be found at Elden Ring's Deeproot Depths in a chest located at the base of a hollowed tree not far from the Crucible Knight Siluria. It has similar stats as the axe armor but with a slightly lower robustness stat. It's also important to know that the boss fight against Siluria can be skipped to just run by and obtain the armor.
The most interesting part about the armor sets is that each piece gives a bonus of 3.6% damage to each incantation that is obtained by a Crucible Knight. Put all together this is a near 14.5% increase to the aspects that already destroy poise and now do more damage. The increase is stacked from the different armor pieces so it is possible to mix and match at the cost of a lower bonus.
After obtaining each of these pieces of armor, with the incantations, and weapons Tarnished can now call themselves mimic Crucible Knights. With great strength and defense, it's possible to do several of the abilities that the knights can do and prove to mobs how weak they are in comparison. Additionally, there is a chance that there will be more incantations to come as more and more updates and patches to the game are released.
