What Happened To Qi'ra After Solo: A Star Wars Story
Charlotte Adams After Emila Clarke's Qi'ra left Han Solo to join Crimson Dawn in Solo: A Star Wars Story, what happened next to the smuggler's first love?
While Emilia Clarke's Qi'ra was Han Solo's first love, as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, what happened next in the Star Wars timeline after she left him? Even though Qi'ra has yet to be featured in any subsequent films or streaming series, her story has continued in other Star Wars media, most notably in the current pages of Marvel Comics' canonical comic series taking place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. In it, Qi'ra was technically reunited with Han Solo, made an enemy out of Boba Fett, and is making plans to take Crimson Dawn to greater heights as its new leader. It's also possible that Qi'ra could return in The Book of Boba Fett, the upcoming series featuring the legendary bounty hunter.
In Solo, Qi'ra joined Han, Chewie, and Tobias Beckett in their job to collect coaxium for Dryden Vos, the public figurehead of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. However, Qi'ra decided to stay behind after she killed Vos, desiring to take his place as second in command to the Dawn's true leader Darth Maul, the former Sith apprentice to Darth Sidious. Now, the comics are currently revealing how her story continues, most notably in the recent War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event as well as in the new Crimson Reign series, both of which come from writer Charles Soule.
In War of the Bounty Hunters, it's revealed that Qi'ra has become Lady Qi'ra, leading a reborn Crimson Dawn in the days after Empire Strikes Back. Following Maul's death at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the years preceding A New Hope, Qi'ra restructured and greatly expanded Crimson Dawn, having agents embedded all over the galaxy. Furthermore, she stole Han Solo in his carbonite prison from Boba Fett while he was en route to deliver him to Jabba the Hutt, auctioning the smuggler off in a master scheme to pit the Hutt Clans and Empire against each other. While Fett eventually got Solo back and handed him over to Jabba, Qi'ra certainly put a target on her back by threatening Fett's reputation. However, Lady Qi'ra has since moved on to the next phase of her plans with Crimson Reign, using her vast network of agents and assassins (including the early Knights of Ren) in a campaign against Sidious and Darth Vader themselves.
Lady Qi'ra has also had interactions with Princess Leia where she conceded that Han Solo is better off with Leia than with Qi'ra herself, seeing as how Leia brings out the best in Han, while she would only bring out the worst. While Lady Qi'ra's story is still ongoing in the pages of Marvel Comics, it's clear that she's become incredibly powerful and cunning in the era after Empire Strikes Back. Likewise, it's currently unknown how Qi'ra's story will end—though it certainly won't involve killing the Emperor or Vader as she intends.
Interestingly enough, there's been some fan speculation that Boba Fett's desire to replace Jabba in the years after Return of the Jedi might lead to a new conflict with Crimson Dawn, that is if they're indeed still active after Crimson Reign. It's possible Boba Fett no longer being a bounty hunter in favor of becoming a crime lord could put him in direct competition with the syndicate. As such, Emilia Clarke could very well make a return as Lady Qi'ra in The Book of Boba Fett. It would certainly be exciting to see a new live-action appearance beyond Solo: A Star Wars Story. Fans will have to wait and see when the new Star Wars series begin streaming on December 29th.
