9 Why Did His Last Name Change?

Those who have checked out the first season of Full House will know that Jesse’s last name wasn’t the one he had later on. He was originally named Jesse Cochran in Full House’s first year, but this was changed to Jesse Katsopolis.

There was a specific reason for this, with John Stamos requesting this change. It was due to the actor wanting the character to reflect his real-life Greek heritage, and thus the name Katsopolis was chosen in order to align him with Greek culture.

This is one of the most common questions about the character since Jesse was established to be younger than Danny and Joey. In fact, he’s a good five years or so younger than the duo, with his date of birth falling on April 1, 1963.

Jesse is the popular name for the character, but the name on his birth certificate is different. He was actually named in honor of his great-grandfather, making Hermes Katsopolis his birth name.

This was changed at Jesse’s own request, as his mother revealed that he had been teased so much over the Hermes name in school that he couldn’t stand it anymore. So, the character might just be Hermes Katsopolis if he ever decided to revert to his birth name.

4 What Jobs Has He Had?

Many have noted that Full House has unrealistic financial standards, but the series did attempt to explain how Jesse made a living. In the first couple of seasons, Jesse worked as an exterminator in his father’s company, after which he worked a number of jobs.

He and Joey became employees in an advertising company before starting their own company called Double J Creative Services. Jesse hit big-time fame in Japan as a musician but returned to the U.S. later to become a radio show host of The Rush Hour Renegades with Joey. By Fuller House, he had become a music composer for General Hospital.

3 Who Are His Most Significant Love Interests?

Jesse can very well be compared to a Disney prince, given his charming personality. In Full House, he had a number of romances in the first season and some former flames showed up later on. But by far, his most significant was Rebecca, who he married.

The first season brought minor love interests, including Vanessa, Adrianna, Robin, Jill, Samantha, and Roxanne. However, his more significant romances were Carrie, his high school sweetheart who tried to get back together with him, and Elena, who he “married” in a ceremonial event and had to “divorce” her the same way.
