Deckhand Wes O'Dell quickly became a favorite among both audiences and fellow Below Deck season 9 cast members when he made his debut last fall. His easy-going attitude and general lack of drama made him one of the most likable crew members in the history of Bravo's hit reality series. In a season full of drama, his friendly presence was a refreshing change of pace.

Since season 9 wrapped, fans have been wondering what the Jacksonville native has been up to. Each season of Below Deck has featured crew members who have been too eager to share their personal and professional lives with the world. Wes, however, remained more private and reserved while the camera was rolling.

He seemed content to play more of a supporting role in storylines if it allowed him to maintain a bit of anonymity. Wes Is Back In The Virgin Islands

Since Below Deck season 9 wrapped filming, Wes returned to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. According to his Instagram, he has spent the winter season sailing and yachting. He has been catching up with family and friends, treating them to afternoons at sea and private sunset tours on the Caribbean waters. In December, he took part in the inaugural running of the Three Sheets Regatta, making the trip from St Croix to St. Thomas in an impressive 4 hours and 53 minutes.

Wes Is The Captain Of His Own Sailing Boat

Since returning to the Virgin Islands, former Below Deck deckhand Wes has become the captain of his own sailboat. He captains the Nightwind II, where he hosts his sailing yacht excursion business, Nightwind II Charters. They offer sailing and snorkeling day trips to St. John's and other cays in the Islands. A nice change of pace from his time as a deckhand on Below Deck season 9.

Wes Is Dating Gabriela Barragan

Wes isn't the only Below Deck alum aboard Nightwind II. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 stewardess, Gabriela Barragan, joined him as his first mate in December of 2021. In an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, she gushed about how the handsome sailor was "teaching me everything about sailing. [...] He’s working with me, and I couldn’t appreciate it more.” Back in April on the Gangplank Report podcast, Gabriela revealed that the two were officially a couple. "Wes and I are dating. We’ve been dating for a couple of months,” she announced. Gabriela, the BDSY season 3 second stew, also added, "It’s insane, and I just haven’t felt this supported by a partner in years. So it’s new for me, but I like it. He’s hot! So hot.”
