Cutiepiesensei's fantastic cosplay of Gotham's very own cat burglar Catwoman demonstrates why her '90s purple suit deserves to be in movies.

Gotham's notorious cat burglar, Catwoman, is no stranger to having iconic costumes throughout DC comics history. The stylish design of the heroine makes appearances in popular DC films like Batman Returns and The Dark Knight Rises. Matt Reeves' The Batman film also features Selina Kyle (Zoe Kravits) in stylish looks from Catwoman's trendsetting past. However, one cosplayer is proving why Catwoman's trendy purple suit deserves a shot at making it to the big screen and many fans are likely to agree.

Prowling her way into DC's Batman #1 (1940) as a cunning jewelry thief, similar in design to the Selina Kyle now. The mysterious heroine's costume debut wouldn't appear until Batman #3's "The Cat-Woman" by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, as a cat mask-wearing villain known as " The Cat". Taking the meaning of cat-burglar too far by appearing as a comical humanoid cat. Cat-Woman's original comic book design shows her in a yellow dress with a red cape. Other versions in a black outfit, purple cape, and furry claws, yet never fleeting from the unsettling cat mask, driving a tarnishing reputation on the cat burglar's name.

On Instagram, cosplayer Cutiepiesensei astonished fans with a trailblazing new cosplay of Catwoman's classic '90s purple suit. Debuting in Catwoman #1 (1993), as an original design for Selina Kyle by writer and artist Jim Balent, the costume quickly became a fan favorite. The cosplay perfectly displays Selina's all-purple catsuit with classic leather black detailing on her arm-length gloves and knee-high boots. As a cat burglar, the chic cowl she wears also sets the tone for her profession, along with an intimidating black whip keeping enemies (and Batman) at bay.

Recently, Catwoman's purple costume returned on the variant cover of Catwoman #32 by artist Jenny Frison. An outfit that represents Selina's debut as Catwoman and standing as Batman's greatest enemy- before succumbing to an endless romance. Over the next decade, the costume would remain reoccurring in comics, despite having mixed reviews from fans. Sometimes accentuating the cat persona with a tail, the costume came to an end in Catwoman #1 (2002) by artist Darwyn Cooke. The redesign with a simple sleek black suit and goggles pairing- set the standard for future Catwoman costumes in both comics and films.

As for Reeves' The Batman film, Selina Kyle wears many outfits inspired by Catwoman's 80- year costume history. This includes inspiration from Cooke's redesign that better suits the burglar's profession rather than the literal cat persona. Catwoman and Batman's romantic relationship is often shown in the pairings' similar costume designs -that further push their cat and mouse dynamic. However, Catwoman's classic purple costume deserves a fighting chance in movies or at least Cutiepiesensei's version is a hopeful version that fans are sure to love in this amazing cosplay.
