Elden Ring: How To Get The Assassin's Prayerbook
Rachel Hickman Incantations offer a variety of useful effects in Elden Ring, and players can increase their stealth with the spells in the Assassin's Prayerbook.
In Elden Ring, Tarnished players can unlock new Incantations with Prayerbooks, and the Assassin’s Prayerbook is one of the easiest to obtain early in the game. Like Sorceries, Incantations allow players to cast powerful magical spells, but Incantations scale with Faith instead of Intelligence. While Sorceries focus primarily on dealing damage, Incantations offer a variety of buffs and effects in addition to offensive power.
There are over 100 Incantations in Elden Ring, but players can learn some of the most useful basic spells from various NPC tutors that can be found in the Lands Between. Brother Corhyn is one of these “learned clerics,” and players will be able to find him near the main Site of Grace in Roundtable Hold. Additionally, players can visit Miriel, Pastor of Vows in Liurnia’s Church of Vows to learn new Incantations.
At first, these vendors will only sell a few of Elden Ring’s basic Incantations. However, players can give them a Prayerbook to unlock the option to learn whatever spells are inside. The Assassin’s Prayerbook unlocks the “Assassin’s Approach” and “Darkness” Incantations, both of which can help players sneak around much easier as long as they have high enough Faith to cast them.
Where To Find The Assassin’s Prayerbook In Elden Ring
Fortunately, the Assassin’s Prayerbook is easy to find in Elden Ring, and players won’t have to venture very far to get it. However, gaining access to its location does require three Stonesword Keys, which players can either find while exploring or purchase from Patches in Murkwater Cave. The Assassin’s Prayerbook can be found at the bottom of the stairs behind Hewg the Smith in Roundtable Hold. After passing through both fog gates with the Stonesword Keys, players will find the Prayerbook inside a chest against the far wall. Once they’ve obtained the Prayerbook, Tarnished players can simply run back to Brother Corhyn to unlock its Incantations.
“Assassin’s Approach” is an Incantation of Elden Ring’s Two Fingers that silences the footsteps of the caster and reduces any fall damage they take. This Incantation only requires 10 Faith to cast, and it can be cast while crouching so players can stay hidden from enemies. The “Darkness” Incantation conjures a dark cloud that conceals the caster, and like “Assassin’s Approach,” it can be cast while crouching. However, this Incantation requires 18 Faith to cast, so Elden Ring players may have to level up a bit before they can use it.
