How Many Lightroots Are In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
James Stevens Hyrule is full of Koroks to find and Shrines to complete - but it's worth knowing how many Lightroots there are in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, too.
While exploring the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link will run into a great number of Lightroots - but because the caverns underneath the surface of Hyrule are pitch-black, it can be unclear exactly how many there are. It's a valid question to have, especially for those who want to challenge themselves and locate them all. After all, Lightroots are extremely useful and well worth unlocking in the newest Zelda game. They illuminate large areas of the Depths, which exposes (and allows the protagonist to avoid) pesky enemies, environmental hazards, and puddles of resistible Gloom in Tears of the Kingdom. Not only this, but they also act as fast travel points, which can be convenient for players who like to get straight into the action.
There Are 120 Lightroots In Tears Of The Kingdom
In total, there are 120 Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom. The number corresponds directly with the number of Shrines on the surface. While it's true that there are a whopping 152 Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom, 32 of them can be found on the Sky Islands. This means that the remaining 120 indeed reside on Hyrule's surface map, similar to the 120 Lightroots which reside in the Depths.
How To Find Lightroots In Tears Of The Kingdom
With 120 Lightroots in TOTK, it can be overwhelming to try and locate them all. However, a neat, secret trick can ease the burden slightly. As it turns out, Lightroots and Shrines don't just correlate when it comes to quantity; each Lightroot is directly underneath a Shrine. In other words, where there is a point of interest on the surface of Hyrule, there is a counterpart directly underneath it in the Depths. Players can use such information to find any Lightroots (or Shrines) that they're missing, and they can even narrow their search by name, since the name of each Lightroot is the name of its associated Shrine spelled backwards.
Unlike Shrines, Lightroots don't require any combat, building, or puzzle-solving to unlock. Simply interacting with the large, twisting roots and activating the light is enough to permanently unlock one on the map. But while the process of actually activating a Lightroot is quite simple, finding all of them is still no small task. After all, there are a total of 120 Lightroots in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - a number that only the bravest of and most dedicated of players will be able to attain in the dark, dingy Depths.
