How To Evolve Galarian Farfetch'd Into Sirfetch'd
Sarah Parker Pokémon GO adds Galarian Farfetch'd to its PokéDex but there is a very specific way to get it to evolve into the coveted Sirfetch'd.
Pokémon GO has introduced Galarian Farfetch'd to its PokéDex, and trainers can evolve them into the popular Sirfetch'd with a little focus and hard work. Galarian Farfetch'd can be found in the wild or hatched from Eggs, and after making the Pokémon their Buddy, trainers can start the process of evolving it into Sirfetch'd.
Galarian Farfetch'd was introduced in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield for the Nintendo Switch, along with a myriad of other Galarian Pokémon forms. This subsequently led to the discovery of its evolution Sirfetch'd. Farfetch'd did not have an evolution before its Galarian form was introduced, making Sirfetch'd an instantly popular and highly coveted addition to the PokéDex. The evolution method to get Sirfetch'd was a bit more difficult to discover, and slightly complicated to execute, and Pokémon GO developer Niantic did not shy away from taking inspiration from this for its Galarian Farfetch'd evolution method.
According to EuroGamer, evolving Galarian Farfetch'd into Sirfetch'd in Pokémon GO takes some very specific steps. After catching or hatching a Galarian Farfetch'd, players must make the Pokémon their Buddy. They need to collect 50 Farfetch'd candies, and make 10 Excellent throws while the Farfetch'd is their Buddy. These throws don't need to be consecutive, and players can switch out their Buddy as frequently as they want without losing their progress toward evolution. However, it can be difficult to land just one Excellent throw, let alone 10, so only the most experienced and talented trainers should expect to evolve their Galarian Farfetch'd quickly.
Niantic has been implementing a lot of changes to Pokémon GO over the past few months, making it easier and more appealing to play. After giving the app almost a complete overhaul in terms of gameplay to better adapt to the many players who are unable to leave the house due to COVID-19 concerns, Niantic has continued to provide its users with free in-game items and the addition of new Pokémon. Most recently, Niantic teased the addition of Galarian Ponyta before adding the creature to in-game Raids and is simultaneously focusing on promoting Galarian Farfetch'd. Niantic has been working incredibly hard to keep Pokémon GO relevant and has so far succeeded in keeping up its popularity.
With the addition of multiple new Pokémon and the implied promise of more to come, as well as the new 12k Eggs, it's clear Niantic is still working to keep Pokémon GO fresh and new to its users. However, this new content push could be a big signifier that it is moving away from the changes it has made to help quarantined players. Niantic has already rolled back some of these updates, including reduced walking distances for Eggs and changes to incense and PokéStops. While it is still promoting safe social distancing measures, it's clear that Niantic wants to go back to making Pokémon GO the physically active game it once was, and while adding tons of new catchable Pokémon is great, it might not be enough to keep the dedicated fans that Niantic achieved with its pandemic-era improvements.
